Actually... While I was in the hospital, I kept thinking... that maybe... this was all a dream...

Me and you guys, even our basic ways of thinking are different... My father always said that “it’s better to eat than be eaten,” you know? They were always restless, it was in the blood, they’d jump right into fights over the tiniest shit.
My mother, too, and when she and my father got into fights they’d seriously try to kill each other.
“Being gokudo - it means that to stay true to your bloodline, you need to be able to kill even the man you love!”
...I’ve been hearing that since I was born, since before I even knew jack shit about the world.
You know, more than a couple of times I almost got killed during the aftermath of one of those fights between my parents...

* Gokudo (極道) means 'Ultimate Path' and is synonymous with yakuza, outlaws/'scoundrels', and is also used as a catch-all term for the concept of organised crime altogether. Yakuza often refer to themselves as Gokudo. Kuzuryuu is basically a child born of a very seedy criminal underworld movement.
